It’s Mental Health Awareness week, which means it’s time to take a step back and look at what you’ve been doing to take care of yourself recently. It’s so easy to say ‘just have a break’ or ‘take a breather’, but living a busy life doesn’t always allow for that. One thing we’ve been thinking about is how we can ‘save the day’. Find one small thing each day that makes you happy – it doesn’t have to take much, or any, time at all! Whether that’s treating yourself to a doughnut, making your favourite coffee, going for a little lunch time walk or spending some time with the people you love. Take care of yourself this week and every week.

The mists rolled in over the Scottish Highlands. The dense forest rustled and a gust whistled through the trees. A low rumble echoed from the skies. In the distance, the sounds of kelpie's hooves could be heard, splashing through the lake. An owl sang its song and kelpies basked in the moonlight. Surrounded by vast ben, in a house called The Apprentice Store, a great inventor named David, his scholars and their advisor Fasthosts, were hard at work securing a solution to the problem of a local business – a terrible website. The thought of leaving the site as it was sent a shiver down David’s spine. The group checked every book, manuscript and pamphlet they could until they found the right fix. They worked through the night, securing every single detail and making sure that there would be no issue. And finally, when morning broke, they’d done it. The perfect website. --------------------- David Massey wasn’t always on track to work in web development. After growing up in Northumberland, he joined the RAF as a Flight Systems Technician and wound up in the Scottish Highlands. Thirty-seven years later, he may have left the RAF, but he stayed put in Scotland, swapping missiles for Macbooks and founding The Apprentice Store in 2016. Nowadays, he and his expert team offer comprehensive website building, hosting, and maintenance to businesses across the UK while simultaneously upskilling the local community with IT apprenticeships.

Social media for business. Crucial asset or Trojan Horse for cybersecurity threats? For a growing business, it’s both. From increasing brand awareness and targeting advertisements to boosting website traffic and conversion, an online presence can reap significant rewards for a brand. However, below the surface, all is not as it seems. Weak passwords, overshared personal details and even simple usernames can expose businesses to data breaches and leaks. And the rise of sophisticated deepfakes further increases this risk, enabling impersonation attacks that can have devastating effects.
